Transparency and honesty are two guiding principles of Fort Lewis College. As a public institution, the College is subject to the Colorado Open Records Act (CORA) and the inspection of public records upon request.
Before you make your request
Prior to submitting an open records request, read FLC’s CORA Policy.
Do not use this form if you need to request transcripts, medical records, or disciplinary records.
Per statute:
- The normal time for production shall be three working days, beginning on the first business day after the request is received by the Custodian. Should extenuating circumstances exist, the Custodian is permitted a time extension, which shall not normally exceed seven working days. The requestor shall be notified of the extension within the original three-day period.
- State and/or federal laws and privacy statutes prohibit the College from releasing certain information, including student academic records, personnel files, attorney-client privileged information, sexual harassment complaints/investigations, and disciplinary records.
- The College is authorized to seek payments of costs associated with its efforts to produce responsive records. The Custodian will provide the requestor an estimate of costs prior to commencement of the search and collection of records.
- State statute does not oblige the College to create records, but to make available certain existing records.
